Discovering the Power of Texas Online Counseling with Eleanor Brown, M.A., LPC

The image features a promotional graphic for an online counseling session titled "DISCOVERING THE POWER OF TEXAS ONLINE COUNSELING with Eleanor Brown, M.A., LPC". It includes a web address at the bottom: www.katewalkertraining.com. The graphic has a modern, clean design with a blue and white color scheme. On the right side, there are illustrations of two women seated and engaged in a counseling session. One woman is presumably the counselor, actively listening, while the other, likely the client, is speaking. The setting appears relaxed and professional.

Hey there! I’m Dr. Kate Walker, and welcome back to another insightful episode of “Badass Therapists Building Practices That Thrive.” Today, I'm thrilled to share my conversation with the inspiring Eleanor, “Elly” Brown, winner of the 599 practice grant and a trailblazer in the field of Texas online counseling.

Badass Therapists Building Practices That Thrive #121: Discovering the Power of Texas Online Counseling with Eleanor Brown, M.A., LPC

The Heart of Texas Online Counseling

Elly runs a 100% telehealth counseling service in Texas, a decision that allows her to reach clients far and wide without the constraints of a traditional office. For those wondering how to connect with or refer clients to her, Elly’s setup is straightforward and user-friendly.

Clients can easily book consultations through her website, EleanorBrownCounseling.com, which sports a big, blue, inviting, “book a free consultation” button on the homepage. This setup not only simplifies the process for clients but also embodies the essence of modern Texas online counseling–open, inviting, and welcoming!

Balancing Business with Passion

In our chat, Elly and I discuss the realities of balancing our passion–counseling and counseling access–with the realities of owning your own business. As many of you listening or reading likely already know, this can be an incredibly difficult task. Luckily, Elly provided us with three ways to work on balancing business and passion. Let's get into them now.

1. Embracing Flexibility with Responsibility

As a business owner, Elly cherishes the autonomy over her schedule, yet she acknowledges the double-edged sword of such freedom. The flexibility is golden, but it requires strict self-discipline to prevent work from bleeding into personal time.

This struggle is a common theme many of us in private practice face, and it’s refreshing to hear a fellow professional articulate that challenge so candidly!

2. Breaking Barriers and Building Bridges

One aspect of our discussion that deeply resonated with me was Elly’s passion for debunking myths surrounding therapy, particularly within Christian communities. She’s an advocate for therapy as a complement to faith, not a substitute. At her upcoming conference, “A Better Way: Where Faith Meets Therapy,” Elly plans to dive deep into topics like Maslow's hierarchy, faith in therapy, and boundary setting.

It’s initiatives like these that spotlight the unique dynamics of Texas online counseling and its ability to bridge diverse needs.

3. Innovating and Expanding Services

Elly’s innovative spirit shines through in her various projects. From her “Shame-Free Sundays” initiative, which aims to dispel misconceptions about shame, to her engaging, highly sought-after workshops, her approach to counseling is anything but conventional.

These ventures not only fulfill her professionally but also serve as vital income streams and make significant impacts on her audience.

Looking ahead, Elly is excited about her plans for the grant money. She intends to enhance her services and streamline her operations, particularly focusing on the administrative side of her practice that often consumes too much of her valuable time.

Legalities, practice policies, and social media outreach are on her radar for outsourcing. Outsourcing these projects would free her up to focus more on what she does best—counseling and educating.

A Call for Growth and Connection

If you’re a counselor struggling with setting boundaries or managing the business side of your practice, take a leaf out of Elly’s book!

Consider what tasks you can delegate and identify areas where you might be exerting effort without much return. It’s about working smarter, not harder, and sometimes that means investing in the right help to propel your practice forward.

I encourage anyone in the Texas online counseling field or considering entering it to reach out to Elly. She’s not only a fountain of knowledge when it comes to Texas online counseling, but also a testament to what innovative thinking can achieve in our field.

Connect with her through her website or directly via email to exchange ideas or seek advice.

Wrapping Up with Gratitude

Chatting with Elly Brown was not just enlightening; it was a reminder of why I love doing what I do. The ability to connect with like-minded professionals who are as passionate about their work as I am about mine enriches my practice and fuels my desire to keep pushing the boundaries of what counseling can look like.

Thank you, Elly, for sharing your journey and insights about Texas online counseling with us. And thank you to all who tuned in. Here’s to creating badass businesses that make a real difference in people’s lives!
