Kate has a background in leadership, business ownership, legislative advocacy, university teaching, experiential education, and musical performance. She loves connecting with people on and off the microphone through real conversations and relevant programs of all shapes and sizes. Kate believes in sharing up-to-the-minute data, genuine stories, and real-world examples that will resonate with audiences and foster growth and change.

Most importantly, Kate isn’t just a speaker – she is a passionate advocate and practicing professional. Her ongoing work as a legislative liaison for the Texas Association for Counselor Education and Supervision means she is able to constantly deliver new tools and timely resources to her audiences. Current data delivered with Kate’s engaging communication style and inspiring real-world stories mean messages will have lasting impact and create real change in your organization.

Kate Walker, Ph.D., LPC/LMFT Supervisor  has served as a member of the Sam Houston State University Doctoral Advisory Board, taught master’s level counseling students at SHSU as an adjunct professor, and was the Director of Clinical Field Experience at the University of Houston Victoria 2014 – 2017. She was elected 2015-2016 President of the Texas Association for Counselor Education and Supervision and currently serves as the TACES LPC Board Liaison.  An avid researcher, she has been a speaker and presenter at the Texas Counseling Association Annual Conference, the Texas Association of Marriage and Family Therapy Annual Conference, and the  Kate Walker BassAssociation for Counselor Education and Supervision National Conference. Kate earned her master’s degree and Ph.D. from Sam Houston State University. She earned her bachelor of music degree from The University of Texas at Austin and taught orchestra in the public schools for thirteen years. In her spare time, Kate continues to freelance as a professional bass player for singer/songwriters in the Houston area.
