Our GSD Story

Hi! We are Kate and Cyndi. Two counselors in Texas who felt different. Then, in 2018, we realized we BOTH were creative, passionate, business-minded counselors who wanted to grow outside the therapy room.  We wanted to find time together to incubate our ideas and lift each other up. We met up in Houston for a weekend to co-work on copy, websites, and other creative projects.  It also led to sharing, challenging each other, and some great brainstorming sessions.  At the end of the weekend, we realized we were getting shit done (GSD) and started calling it the GSD weekend! Kate walked away with her hashtag #counselorsdontquit courtesy of Cyndi. Cyndi walked away with her hashtag #fearismylovelanguage courtesy of Kate.  We would not be where we are with our businesses without the support and encouragement of each other AND other people in our tribe.  We want to do the same for you!

What's a GSD?

GSD is a time to set away from the daily tasks, clients, employees, and other demands and get shit done.  It's time to dig in and do deep work on those tasks or projects you have pending or ones you have been avoiding. 

GSD brings people with common interests together to create a collaboration for connection, networking, decompressing, or creativity. 

It's not ALL work though! 

There is also time to play, relax, explore, refresh, and renew yourself.

Cyndi Doyle

Author, Practice Owner, Course Designer, Business Coach, Podcaster, Keynote Speaker

Cyndi is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in Texas and a Nationally Board Certified Counselor (NCC).  She is a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator for the programs created by Dr. Brené Brown including The Daring Way™ and Rising Strong™. 

 Since embracing her B.I.F. (Big Idea Fairy), Cyndi has become a recognized speaker, podcaster, author, and recognized internationally as an expert in her niche.  Cyndi is known for her educational and entertaining presentation style to both first responders and mental health professionals.  She has spoken at a wide variety of local and statewide conferences as well as the national stage at the Foundations of Connection Summit, the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), and the FBI National Training Academy Association Conference (FBINTAA).  She is asked to consult with professional associations in her niche of law enforcement mental and relational health.  In 2021, Cyndi released her book, Hold the Line: The Essential Guide to Protecting Your Law Enforcement Relationship which has been recognized by experts in the field as essential reading.

Kate Walker Ph.D. is a LPC Supervisor and LMFT Supervisor. In addition to her clinical work with couples and families, Dr. Walker designs continuing education courses for mental health professionals, supervisors, and staff nationwide, including the first completely online, forty-hour LPC/LMFT supervisor course in Texas. Her book My Next Steps: Create a Counseling Career You'll Love has been used in master's level counseling courses as a guide for students building their counseling career.

In addition to her practice Achievebalance.org and her course design company Kate Walker Training LLC, Kate hosts the podcast Texas Counselors Creating Badass Businesses. Her virtual communities Texas Counselors Creating Badass Businesses and Texas Supervisor Training have over two thousand followers. Thanks to her experience as the president of the Texas Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (TACES) and the TACES liaison to the LPC board, she is able to provide free resources, workshops and up to the minute information and updates.
